The last Sunday in July every year, thousands of pilgrims pay homage to St Patrick & climb
the 2,500 feet high Croagh Patrick mountain close to Westport Town in County Mayo Ireland. The mountain, with its perfect triangular peak, has an almost regal presence & dominates this beautiful seaside town. Croagh Patrick looks down on the magnificent Clew Bay – world famous for its 365 islands. Magical!.
It is not an easy climb so come prepared. Ireland’s patron saint Patrick is said to have fasted on this mountain for 40 days & to have banished snakes from Ireland.
Whilst Christianity is ‘only’ 2,000 years old, this religious place goes back to 3,000 years before Christ.
Elope to Croagh Patrick year round, in the land of your ancestors & experience this magical & religious place, plus the warmth & friendliness of the Irish - what a start for your life together!
