Barns are historic agricultural buildings which go back seven centuries to the 1300s.
The Church was all powerful in those days. The peasants & farmers had to pay 10% of all their produce & harvest to the Church. These payments were known as tithes which comes from the Old English word ‘teogotha’ - a tenth. Many such barns are magnificent structures – perfect setting for a romantic marriage ceremony.
